Yeah, give me maaaany dislikes

This manga had an overused plot and I didn't like it very much either. However, I think these type of stories exist as a manifestation of "rape fantasies"

Now you might be thinking, but rape is a horrible thing, anybody who enjoys rape must be sick!

Well, having rape fantasies is a lot more common than you think and having them DOES NOT make you sick and it definitely DOES NOT MEAN that you want to be raped or that you support it in real life

So yes, I will look you in the eye and tell you that liking these kind of stories because these characters live out our sex fantasies is not sick and is definitely not toxic

And yes, rape is horrible. It's violence and I would appreciate more literature that handles rape realistically. But again, liking these kind of stories does not have anything to do with supporting rape in real life and liking them is not sick

Yes, rape irl isn't a fetish, it's a crime, but the reason people say "it's a manga" is because in literature forceful sex IS a fetish. They aren't saying "don't take this seriously" they're saying "literature is possibly the only place where you'll see rape depicted in this way and it's clearly for sexual pleasure and used as a plot device". Even movies depict rape as it is irl, but literature can depict it as a fantasy.

I understood your arguments. But I'm not talking about the presence of rape in literature, of course there is, but about the image that people have about it, you know? In this comments section, for example, you can see things that... I can not BELIEVE they see it as common sense, get it?

My response was about the same thing, what i was saying is that people view the rape trope the way they do BECAUSE it's in a piece of literature and as that is the only common place to find it, it makes no sense to get irritated over their views on it. It's like going into McDonald's and getting irritated that they serve bigmacs there, it's just something they do. Same with getting irritated at the people eating the bigmacs, the McDonald's sells them so they partake.

Common sense!!!!!!! Its alright not liking bigmacs, I mean... Ok lol But I can't "ok lol" when people say "oh lets ignore the rape and enjoy". My point is here, where the problematic matter begins. We must not normalize rape. Not even in fiction, fanfics, mangas or anywhere else.

Why? Do you think it will make more people rape others if they find the rape trope sexually appealing? Putting aside that there is no evidence or statistics to imply that, let's take a look at you, when you read these do you feel as though your opinion on rape irl is changing? I certainly don't.

I'd argue that it is fine to normalize the rape fantasy in literature specifically, as it has been around way longer than either you OR I without many, if any, reports of a rapist saying they did it "because of the books". Besides, rapists rape people, not your average Joe reading yaoi. Regardless of what they read they would still rape. It's like trying to say "that killer read a horror novel within the last three months, thag must've made an impact". No. He's a killer so he killed. They're rapists so they rape.

I'm pretty sure that everyone who reads this kind of story know the distinction between rape and rape fantasies. Sure they might say "hey this is hot" about rape in literature but I'm pretty sure they won't be saying "that must've been hot" when they read about someone who was raped irl
