yes, the story would be so typical if things went theon's way, they have nothing in common except that dorrothea fell in love with him before and he fell in love with her now, her love was agony for him and in turn her, I rooted for ethan from the start, because love is patience and thats exactly who ethan was for her. theon was aware that she loved him, yet that bastard never told her and PROPOSED TO HER, proceeded to have a side chick, and then commit suicide when he couldn't bare the burden he put on himself, both milanare siblings would've saved him if he just told them. Also in their previous life he couldn't tell his illness to the prince but this time he did in previous chapters and the prince offered to help, only goes on to show what a useless piece of crap Theon is. The princess is changing and so is ethan and thats how they connect, something only they know and lived.

Why has the FL’s character deteriorated so much in the last few chapters? She was characterized as very intelligent and resourceful in the first half when collecting evidence and scheming behind her ex-fiancé’s back, but perfect character syndrome kicked in where everyone just adores her, and she became so one dimensional that it was quite hard to bear. In the second half, instead of showing how intelligent she is, the author decided to just tell us by having her exclaim “you’re gonna pay me for this!”. there was 0 romantic tension or build up to show us exactly why she also loved the prince instead of it just being a partnership. it feels super rushed, the art has also gotten worse by the end. this story deserved a better second half.
