No that isn't all true. In the next chapter maettel will know he is the daddy and he knows louis was drugged.
Maettel plans a wedding before asking Louis. He keeps him in captivity and completely shut off from the world. The newspapers continued to make poor Louis out to be a whore and maettel is portrayed like a besotted lover who magnanimous ly says he'll take care of Louis and his child---instead of the master manipulator he is..then as u say in chapter 44 he confesses. I haven't seen chapter 45 and I am still kind of pissed the rape from last chapter will go unaddressed. Seriously why did the author do that...show Louis saying no and trying to get away, show us the fear and horror on his when he came..bc physiology? It really took away from the story and make it look like maettel did not in fact love him.

I read it, so i know what is true. But is said that Maetel didn't told to Louis bcs he is not sure if he is the dad. Anyway, since the begining Matel wasn't the most kindly person or any magnanimous, as far as I get it, he could have stopped the papernews, maybe, he could even keep the pregnancy a secret, but he is obsessed, so is expected to be a toxic relationship, idk why you seem disapointed, tbh I just read it bcs is free, I knew where this was going
