so many people completely misunderstand Hestia’s character her obsession with Kaelus isn’t as shallow as ppl make it seem. when Hestia reincarnated into an unfamiliar world, she had no clear purpose or direction. to give herself a reason to survive, she chose to dedicate her existence to protecting Kaelus, ensuring he never suffered at Diana’s hands again.
this is why (NOVEL SPOILERS) her reaction to Kael objecting to Diana’s dethronement was completely justified. Kael siding with Diana undermined everything Hestia had worked for. her entire identity in this world revolved around safeguarding Kaelus and avenging his pain, so when he chose to protect Diana in the end, it felt like her efforts were meaningless. if Kaelus was willing to forgive Diana, then what was Hestia’s purpose in this world?
her fixation on Kaelus’s revenge isn’t just because she’s a devoted fan,, it’s a coping mechanism. stripped from her original world and thrown into an unfamiliar one, she clung to the one thing that gave her direction, which is protecting and avenging Kaelus. that was the foundation of her self worth. this is also why she struggles to accept Kaelus’s love. deep down, she fears she isn’t “stable” enough for him. without her premonitions to guide her, she feels lost, uncertain of what she can offer him beyond the role she built for herself.
i wish the manhwa was a little bit better with portraying Hestia’s character, especially how mentally unstable she is. everyone knows about Kaelus’s depression, but what about Hestia’s? they’re fr a textbook example of the trope “when the grumpy character gains their spark again, but the sunshine character loses theirs in the process.”
