
Pretty nice dialogues, overall.
If this were a movie, I'd say the ML was thoroughly upstaged by the ex-husband and the son. Like, look alive brother, you can be more than "pretty, tragic and pathetic" but you gotta get your ass in gear.
And let me just add: trying to threaten via the downtrodden "I can use my connections" being overturned by "I AM THE BOSS"
Was severely satisfying.

"I want to match your pace" is a very, very soft thing to say and I love it dearly. No guilt-tripping, no pressure, just "you have your pace and it might be different from mine and I strive to match yours so we can reach another place TOGETHER"
that's like healing ointment for the soul, butterfly bandage and all.
And here I thought Harlequin finally ventured into unchartered waters with Male pregnancies. A pity.
Curiously, that would explain the title...
