Just wanted to clear something up because I just read the raw and you guys might have seen panel of a cigarette box containing the matching necklace and earring that Ian has with TJ and seeing on twt saying Ian come back for that. NO. It's not really like that. The cop that was in season 1 who is in cahoots with TJ was searching Ian house. Which he open those cabinets and saw the box of cigarettes and under there was envelope. He empty the box of cig and find the earring and necklace but was immediately interrupted by another cop so he left that cabinet alone. And do correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there a panel of someone saying something along the line "now that Jason's prodigy leaving him..." And Ian was the one who left the gang. I don't think he came back for the box. Yes the jewelry hold emotional significant but with the way he is acting I don't think that what he wanted to get.
Twt is not that of a reliable source because they tends to distort things into their own narrative and also because it's just panels that we are getting . We don't have the whole context. So do wait for the raws to drop of this chapter to drop here and hopefully y'all don't jump to conclusions and hate on Ian
I think when Ian said that he wanted to get something from the apartment it could be that box but also the envelope that was under it maybe? I think I saw something that looked like letters but who knows.
When he went into hiding, he left behind what was precious to him and wanted a so called 'clean cut' from everything.
Yeah it can be interpret both way ;(( but there is no 100% indication that the box was what he came for and also the part where one of the gang members saying something about Jason along the line " his prodigy left him.." (if I'm remembering it correctly) just makes me think that there is more to it but who know. ┗( T﹏T )┛
My first thought before this chapter is that he left something of his own past behind... about his mom, his drug abuse problem or like you said something about Jason or the gun he used to kill the golfplayer... or something Jo gave him so if Jo went back to the apartment and found it, he will know its over between them.
But it would make sense if it was the earrings and chain because until a few chapters ago, Ian still believed that TJ could run away from everything to be with him... it's something that is special to him that he would risk his life and Ian's pretty chained to his past with TJ
For me that necklace and earrings are important in a way that's what he wear in the past, and ian love that kind of accessories so idk why people tied this with tj when tj is the one copying his style lol. But like if it's really to take only that, then I question doyak's writing if it's not something related for his escape plan or for his safety.
It's also don't make sense to tied it with tj when Joseph wanted to inform about tj and Ian immediately brushed him off and to not talk about that guy.
If it's not something relate for his safety or related to something that benefits him then the writing would be underwhelming and I would be surprised if doyak write something that's anti climatic

Idk but I have so much love for Ian as a character and since I love him so much it just pains me to see the lack of empathy toward him and seeing his character sometimes get simplified. He is just as tragic if not more tragic than TJ.He had a rough childhood. He was a drug addict. He was raped and the person who happen to be there for him was TJ. Wether TJ has hurt Ian or they have hurt each other over the time they have together. There were still unforgetable moment of gratitude comfort, love and hapiness that they had with one another. Ian has been dying with the feeling of guilt and feeling indebted to TJ for accidentally saving him. When Jason found out about him and TJ. He didn't just decided to leave for just his own sake but fot TJ's as well. He didn't always just chose himself and everytime he tries to chose himself, he got hurt.He selfishly and selflessly chose TJ over himself and his own well being for 20 year straight but TJ never actually did the same. His guilt coupled with his love for TJ for those moment that they had together. He to me is such a selfless character at time and he has never made TJ given up more for him contrary to a lot of people believe. His pain and his guilt is more quiet and he has more restrain on himself from his own emotion. Even in a moment of emotional outburst he would ponder and feel guilt for what he said that might hurt others despite it hurting him as well because those little moment of happiness, comfort and gradttitude that he has for TJ has always has so much emotional value to him that it hard for him to truly not care about TJ completely or selfishly chose himself. Ever since he killed the man in the alley. He has been through so much physically and emotionally draining and life threatening situation. He isnt in a state to be thinking about chosing TJ or between Jo and Tj right now the only thing he knows to do is do this job and try his best not to implicate the others and honestly i'm dreading that he might even get killed even tho he is the mc. (I hope not cus that gonna break me) and yet you'll still see people not acknowledge his pain and instead tie his action to the MLs. He is such a realistic character. His emotion , his guilt. All that to me is so realistic. He is so pathetically human. At least to me.
I also like TJ character. I find his character compelling but the love for his character feels more romanticize than it is the love for his character as a whole. His selfishness and the way he is unapologetically himself. The way he knows that he is bad for Ian, the way he try to make ian stay and the way he try to let go of him because he knows he won't give Ian what he wants and yet whenever he get the chance to pull Ian back in. He would. the way he would always crawl back into Ian's arm after every woman. Ian knows their circumstance and how he would never be able to love him out in the open and TJ knows that ian would take it and endures it. He has a tragic past, he do care for Ian in his own way but he is also selfish and has done harm to ian and yet those stuff are what people praise him for being flawed and tragically written while ian who is the same but the empathy toward him are solely revolve around the MLs.
I have rooted for them and in a way I still do. Their bond and their history ,relationship, their friendship is complex and has more depth. I have more attachment toward them than I do to Joian but Jo character itself is not bad either.
He is morally gray and some people might think of him a pathetic or dumb to risk his life but realistically there are people who are just like that. I think Jo is the best choice. He somewhat deserves to win and if he do chose Jo I don't think Jo would ever be the second choice. Some relationship doesn't work out. That's okay and I believe with time or given the same time that he had with TJ that Ian would come to love Jo just as much as he had with TJ.
W comment W character analysis W point of view u described it so perfectly they are all morally grey and deep and tragic characters written so well so complex ppl need to stop putting them in boxes not everythings only black or white good or bad its deeper than that thank u gojopubichair
I mean, a character's past can only so much be an excuse for their dumbassery. They are grown men who are acting like teenagers going through puberty. It's about time they started acting their age.
Funny how the same people who talk like this are often the ones who’d act the same or even worse in real life if they were to be in that same situation. It's honestly crazy how people just absolutely just come out here to and admonish everyone character over their age. Trauma doesn't go away with aging especially not when you spend 20 of your life going through it. If you don't want to understand a characters complexity or you just hate Ian in general then just say that. No one needs to care about it ://)
