Reminds me of that BL "Ordinary Men". It doesnt have the "oh shit, am i gay?" and real world homophobia. Just people having relationships. And the fact that their relationship is normal means the setting doesn't really demands an heir (in his father's case, it was his obsession with weakening the curse), with all these patrons and possibly adoption, there's also the younger brother as potential next heir coz he's young.
It's a good mix of infuriating (bc of current emperor and his bitch), funny and endearing
