As much as Dan loves JJK I feel like JJK is at the bottom of his worries. He has his grandmas (and her death), his debt, his life, his past etc to deal with in this current moment. Poor baby is so overwhelmed to the point of unconsciously reaching for his end? Like I don’t think Dan consciously went to the sea, he was thinking about the million and one things to do but unconsciously reached out for the easiest thing which is ending his life. He has truly hit his bottom where he knows time is ticking for the one sliver of hope he had at the end of a day of hard work but knowing and accepting are world apart. He’s scared of being alone and when he did stay With JJK he filled that gap.

The only way I see redemption from JJK is he heals from whatever demons he’s fighting while he sees what Dan is going through. JJK since Dan left hasn’t had character development let’s be honest. He will still be a dickhead, asshole and scum of the earth BUT it does not matter anymore. Dan has fallen to the lowest of low and JJK’s words of abuse is just another one of the shit he deals with. I just see JJK vicariously heal through Dan who is struggling to accept death. Maybe granny will die soon and JJK will be there to see how Dan will heal which could bring some past flashbacks for JJK because mind you this lad is still a blank slate apart from being a dickhead who punches bags for a living. We shall see:)
