Some of these comments are not it at all. 1st of all, authors/artists NEED hiatuses to be able to continue creating. Do you realize the amount of pain and issues these people can have if they don't take time to recoup? "February fucking what" "why are there so many hiatus????" Please sit down. Y'all have no compassion for the authors of the stories you're reading. Let's also keep in mind, WE are currently not paying for the stories we're reading. These authors aren't benefiting from our consumption of their products. The LEAST we can do is keep the complaints quiet when they want to take breaks.
So I'm reading the novel (I'm reading on Chrysanthemum Garden- someone on here said it was better translated than the one suggested at the end of each episode. They were 100% correct.) I'd definitely say, anyone who's frustrated with the censorship in the manhua should give the novel a go. Yes, it doesn't have artwork but it's wayyyy more graphic than the manhua is. I also have found that reading the novel and the manhua together was more entertaining since I could see what was happening but also understand more of what's going on. I've read way ahead of the manhua now tho.
Fair warning the novel is riddled with r+pe (mostly of characters that aren't the MC). There's on particular scene with a side character getting gangr+ped by mermen that's very graphic. From what Desharow says, it was like the mermen had assaulted him so badly that his intestines were falling out... I'm on chapter 72 so far and the ML is the only one that has had sex with the MC. Although, there have been r+pe attempts from others.
Spoiler for the novel story. I kept seeing the plug for the novel at the end of each episode and finally was like... Well, let's check that out. Idk what I was expecting when I saw the word "novel" but an actual book with words apparently wasn't it Anyway, I'm only on like chapter 10 of the novel and I like it but I really wish I could edit it just to make reading easier and better translated (no hit to the translator as I'm aware how difficult it is to translate to English. I'm very appreciative of their work and efforts). Raine (Rayne? Can't remember the spelling. He's the blonde in this manhua. And I knew I didn't like him just from what I've seen in the manhua but in the novel, he's even more of a shitty person. He threatens to r+pe Desharow (the way it was written made me think he was threatening to have the whole crew join) Hella gross behavior. The novel is much more sexual.
manhuahot probably uses mtl and that other site most likely uses it as well for a better quality translation by an actual translator, try reading here (it's complete) https://chrysanthemumgarden.com/novel-tl/dm/

Honestly, it could've ended right here and I'd be satisfied but we get a season 3 Author is generous and kind
