Why do stories like this even exist? Why do you have to fall in love with the child you RAISED? Can't it be a normal mother-son plot?
At some point it started to get boring. If she's so smart and cunning then why is she taking so much time? Is it because she's young? Her father taking the throne was absurd in the first place. His reasoning was to rule as a substitute because the princess was still young. But, if you actually look back into history, there are several rulers who ascended to the throne at very young age because of several reasons. Though they were mostly puppets and the one holding actual power was someone else. So, it would've been more reasonable to have her take the emperor's seat while controlling the court from the shadows. Because the previous emperor already chose her as the only successor. And the nobles were so spineless! All it took for him to kill a few people to shut them up.
