I mean seriously? Watching the first night of the king and the queen!! It's so embarrassing that I can't even think about it! Were there really such customs in the past? And what's the benefit of watching them having sex? It's their private matter gezz! Aren't they treating women as their sex toy?

Yup! It's a real old custom. But you need to remember, that nobility and especially royalty never married for love. Marriage was like a business deal. The audience was basically there to act as witnesses that the marriage was indeed "complete". Tho in many countries and time periods, the bedding ceremony ended before the couple had sex lol. So our new king dude is def a sadistic weirdo! XD

This is just a theory but maybe it can explain that. I read something similar in another novel that had no relation to this trilogy. Northian is what would be described in ancient times by its fellow countries as Barbaric. Barbaric countries are dubbed as such for many reasons and two of them are because of their demeanor and culture that doesn't seem to fit the norms of most countries. As mentioned in the early chapters of this manhwa, Northian is ruled by power and the strongest becomes their ruler. They were previously savages that hunt for a living and etc. I'm not sure if the ritual is also applicable for non-royals but during those times, according to that novel, bride abduction is a normal occurrence, they were abducted either before marriage or right before their first night. So there had been a lot of concerns for the legitimacy of children being born right after that incident and often, women are being accused and wronged. So to prevent having that kind of issue in the future an audience called Councilmen, consisted of higher-ranking nobles or a group of elders will stand as witnesses to the consummation of marriage from the beginning until the end to ensure the legitimacy of the soon to be born child.
So maybe, since they share similar roots, that might be the reason why it began but as generations passed, you can't help it if such tradition meant for the good of their people and instill order was abused and misconstrued by their descendants especially if they are as crooked as that white-haired villain.
Anyway, that kingdom in that novel progressed and also adapted to the norms of other countries and they were no longer considered as barbaric but that custom remained and the ritual deviated from its original purpose and was viewed by the attending witnesses in a perverse way. much like how it happened here.

Even if it's about the legitimacy, it's totally absurd. They're custom is uncultured and they are behaving like people in stone age. If their was really such ritual, I just can't help but feel sorry about thoes women. How much they were mentally hurt and embarrassed. To endure that type of humility, they had to muster courage. I feel sorry, but what can be done? It's already a existed a long time ago. Thoes culture shouldn't have been there in the first place. I bet it was truly an endless nightmare.

Yes, that's why they were called barbaric. and I'm just referencing it from another novel. Also, in reality, way back in time from human history, people's thinking from then and now are lightyears apart from one another. It may seem uncultured to us now but not in their time. These rules or laws seemed reasonable for them because their situation based on their environmental condition calls for such laws to be enforced. Our idealogy of right and wrong has been broadened by the knowledge humanity strove hard to acquire over millenniums of time. so if such a custom and ritual had existed in reality, you can only blame their narrow-mindedness and lack of understanding about the rights of each people no matter what gender. But then again we can't easily argue with them regarding that because for them they are also right according to their own perspective.
A nightmare? yes, that's truly a nightmare. What they showed here in this manhwa was probably one of the examples of that horrible nightmare and it's sad that those women had to suffer something like that because of man's selfishness.(● ̄(エ) ̄●)

What's with the fucking curse? Is it even considered a reasonable curse? You can't tell the Lord that he's handsome or he'll die? Like seriously? Or is it that if he learns that he's handsome he'll become that arrogant and jerk type prince before he was cursed in 'Beauty and the Beast'? Whatever it is, it doesn't make sense. I can't watch the ML think that he's ugly. Common our FL you have to break that unreasonable curse!!!!

It's truly insulting. After reading the chapter where they were fuckin in the church, I totally stopped reading this shit. It's totally an insult to the church and the father. I'm not even a Christian but I respect their religion. Everyone should respect each other whether they are atheist or religious.

I cried every time for them, it's damn fuckin best.... I just can't wait for season two. The story is so awesome. It's really a legendary story. But one thing I feel bad about is the second prince. He loved Juju with his whole heart and never married anyone. It's actually quite rare. I feel bad about him.....
Why's she so dump?
