Welcome to the world of color theory and shading people. You, and many others assumed his skin color based on the cover, where clearly, there’s light shining behind him, he was given a red based light skin therefore it seems tan because of shading. Plus, why are people obsessed with skin color, I got a feeling you’re American(no offence to sane/intelligent people)

if we use your logic, we can use the MC as reference. they’re both standing in front of light, and there’s a visible skin tone difference. in the manhwa they’re the same tone. you’re loud and WRONG

Girl I really don’t care if you’re embarrassed or not, I only spoke out because I felt obliged as an illustrator to explain how the based color can change if we add shading/highlights. The difference between mc and ml is that ml’s base color has a warmer base while mc’s has a cooler one, so even if the same shading color was used on both, it will look different. I was frustrated before and I might’ve spoken rudely but I genuinely want them to understand.

you don’t know color theory. someone can be the same skin tone with different undertones.

i know. they’re trying so hard to excuse this when their excuse doesn’t even make sense. warm pale, neutral pale and cool pale exist. if they wanted to talk abt color theory fine but at least be right weird that they have to justify it

I don’t know why you’re trying to make me look like the one who doesn’t know what they are saying, also, I’m not looking for a fight, and I understand that I might not be able to convince people on the internet technical aspects of my job and I don’t care, I’ll just state how I see it as an illustrator. (English is not my first lang so the translation of technical terms might be inaccurate, but you get the gist)

Sometimes, although the base colour is light(for skin for example) when I add the shading, it might look like a darker version, this differs for different base colours because (lemme simplify) if remember the color wheel and for skin, you select a red base, for a cooler tone you use a greyish color(like mc’s), for a warmer one, you use a red one(like ml’s). So even if used the same dark purple in a multiply layer above the base colours, it will look different, so comparing mc and ml, is not a valid argument.

Plus, I honestly think this is the novel cover and the adaptation.
