hi, if i got it right, once upon a time a golden dragon gave his blessing to the first king, it works for protection like an extra life and also for use magic, this blessing is reflected in the golden hair and eyes of the royals, but since the current king is a psychopathic SOB who kills at the drop of a hat, preys on little kids and think nothing of the suffering and hunger of his people, it seems kinda logic that he is deemed unworthy of such blessing, plus, being the hateful creep that he is, he must have already used all his continue, and ill be happy to see his game end in the next chapter, hope it helps
