I would like to share my thought too. Since the hunter in this story has the belief that, the one who has the power need to protect the weak even if they need to sacrifice themselves, so seo yoon feel the need to protect/save them from making the sacrifice to protect the weak/world from danger.
So seo yoon became the protector of these hunter or something like that. Thus it become his mission:save the hunter. But this is just my thought tho.
adding a stupid thought of mine:
what if the abnormal condition (he can't be healed by both healers nor potions, hence the dangerously constant drop in mana) IS RELATED TO HIS TRAUMA???
he felt guilty for his 1000++ dead comrades died in "injustice"... retracting his shield so his comrades were vulnerable, channeling all his mana for attack... every tragic death hie witnessed made him thinking he doesn't deserve to heal nor to live a new life hence he CAN'T be healed??? because his subconscious refuses to???
(i think there was a scene like that once, when he said something like "i shouldn't be xxx" regarding his well-being.)
