they follow the logic that if one has power they are worthy of being in the clan...since maki and mai didnt have power/were weak they were worthless and since they didnt follow the clans orders they deserved to be killed

Maki left the clan to become a sorcerer. Last chapter they said Maki used to be part of that team before leaving the clan so I guess the difference is that she stopped following the clans orders unlike those men. And she left because she and her sister were treated like trash by the higher ranked clan members
