As far as i understand it, the actual story goes that Seth becomes pregnant through the tainted lettuce, and a golden disk appears above his head or something of the sorts. And it's believed that it either means that the disk is a symbol for Thoth, and that's how he came to be, or that Seth was literally pregnant with a disk.
