I believe it’s symbolic of perhaps how a hedgehog has “spiked” quills that jut out & may appear intimidating & tough on the (outside), but it’s actually quite soft on the “inside” the underbelly. Possibly alluding to the fact that, even though one might appear hard on the outside, they really have a soft vulnerable side. (describing Himemiya)
