I did feel that the background chapters for the characters were great for Shiratorizawa because we "didn't know" if they would be able to defeat them, and it was a final. Here, it's a bit too much, unless Furudate is setting us up to see Karasuno defeated and I'm not even considering that. Nope. Karasuno will win, and then they'll play against Nekoma. And everyone will be happy. The end.

Nah. Enlisting in Korea is pretty mainstream and it's just for a year. Many people do that as an alternative to further education. So no lives will be in danger ^^ but he'll probably lose the baby face and part of his sweetness, so it would be interesting to see if hyung still considers him a boy after that.
I know it's mainstream, but currently a lot of tensions are surround Korea and that area. I do agree with your hypothesis as well though.
