It’s confusing because it’s not always consistent and he has silver hair in areas where he probably shouldn’t but I’ve noticed in direct dialogue with other people he has the blonde hair

That's why the dad was annoyed seeing his painting with gold hair - he had been seeing past his disguise the entire time. The artist draws ML from Raza's perspective with silver hair and only switches to the disguise when it's someone else's perspective.
