If there are messed up people who still don’t acknowledge LGBTQ+ and POC today, then I imagine the past to have been insanely cruel. I grew up when schools were bringing in LGBTQ+ speakers who reassured everyone that there’s nothing wrong with being who they are. History lessons included diverse topics such as how terribly mistreated various groups of the LGBTQ+ communities and communities of POC were.
There are so many fucked up things we can’t fix because it’s in the past, but I’d like to think that humanity is starting to wake up and realize the madness we’ve been ignoring. No one deserves to be invalidated like this.
Lastly, I love how non-BS and significant this mangaka’s work is. I feel torn reading this, but I can’t even begin to imagine how the person this was based off was feeling. He deserves all the respect for opening up and sharing such difficult experiences. I hope he can just be happy with his husband.

Yay she gets to sit with her father and represent her house!
