He has amnesia? Everyone has been telling him that Caius could only have ONE bride, the chosen one... There wouldn't be a second time, Caius said that AGAIN and AGAIN... He's just to immersed on his damn idea that his mother died because of him and that he should work twice as hard as her and don't care about the rest... Just like Caius said... Forget the past and live the present, his mother didn't do all that so he would torment himself for life... As I said a couple of chapters before... Once he goes back to his world, he won't find anyone... He was always alone there, why does he think it'll make a difference if he goes back or not? He'll regret for life doing that...

Well... If he did mean that... Then he never paid attention to the prophecy they told him...

I mean I felt that the way they said it could be taken two ways. Like it was a lost magic in the first place and I dont think they said it HAD to be him, I felt they implied it sure, but didn't he say it would Hard to make sure it was him who arrived?
The prophecy didn't specify one specific bride, just that it couldn't be someone from their world.
Id have to go reread for specifics but I'm pretty sure it wasnt him and him only.

No no... I'm not saying it should be him... I'm saying that ONLY one could be chosen... I mean that if he's chosen, they can't chose others, it must be him, otherwise it doesn't work... Caius said himself, that it should be a bride chosen by him and that it could only be ONCE... That's why he only observed for years and never tried to summon someone until he found Kouichi...

I have the tendency to skim over long dialog when I first read something. Like I read it too fast. So I easily could have misread.

I usually do that when I don't like the story... LOL
I have that kind of need where I MUST finish a story, even if I hate it... So I'll keep skimming to end it quickly... (￣∇￣")

ohhhh I understand, I also can't leave stories unfinished even when they are aweful. But I have ADHD and I always feel things are TOO SLOW and end up trying to just absorb things as fast as possible when I like them, which isn't the best method. But sometimes I'm so focused one "WHOA WHATS NEXT" I don't finish a page before I'm clicking to the next one. T_T''

it's a long thing to talk about.

But we can say the reason that tends not to happen is because yaoi is written by women to women, the uke it's supposed to be the woman and the seme the man. So having that mindset on mind, you will find the answer. If you start the story with the heteromartive mindset from the start, you can't just easily say 'oh they can switch'. (I guess, yes, you can, but they just simply don't do it).

Now, saying that, since it's written to women, it is important that the uke remains the uke. So that those young female characters can relate to the uke, and wish for them to have that imaginary perfect "seme" (just like disney's princess movies but... instead of princess just ukes lol)

It's not that ALL yaoi are like this, of course there are always exceptions. There are some versatile characters and reverse coupples.

But that's the conclusion I got to after reading some post about this, and my own thoughts.

I have to add tho, these line of thinking does not only apply to straight men or women. There are gay guys (I'm a gay man myself) that are only 'top' because being a bottom is girly. Like... man come on, but well, that's a hell a lot of other problem, but I think is worth mentioning it.
