Also Sung-Ho looking out for his daughter's well-being first before anything else made sense in terms of his character and what we know of him so far but as a father, that's also a generally responsible stance to take.
Two men raising a child in a country side can be 50/50, and even those meaning well can come off insensitive. Understanding where they came from is one thing but it's another to risk a child's growth in said environment.
TLDR Sung Ho is perfectly in his right to put his daughter's well-being first in case the environment he's planning to raise her in aren’t welcoming of him and especially of her
