Keys2ykingdom actually made a good explanation about soundproof rooms.
"Technically the best way for a room to be soundproofed is to be use several noise cancelling materials and to vacuum seal the room to make it air-tight. However as far as I know, noise canceling materials aren't 100%. Plus, vacuum sealing requires a motor - which is definitely not silent - as well as taking time - something Asami and Akihito didn't have. So at best, Asami and Akihito are in a room that cancels most sound."

That looks very much like Asami's room. And it makes for better suspense to draw them searching right outside the room they are hiding in (especially since this is shown right after they are).
So yeah, they actually could very likely be (and probably are) in the panic room.

How is it not suspenseful if they are? Asami says they can't find the room but Akihto managed to before, and there's apparently three entrances to it, so there's a good chance they could (I feel that Asami's guards will arrive backup right before they do though).

Is it possible that they're in the small space between the secret room and asami's room? Cause they seem squished together and asami said not to make a sound. Then they show the intruders looking through asami's room.

When you're in a bunker during a natural disaster, the bunker is usually spacious enough, yet people will still hover together. It's for protection and reassurance. Asami can protect him better if he's closer to him, should they find the entrance. They're close to the door because the sounds will be muffled and they wanted to be able to hear them when they get close to be prepared.
so there are 3 secret passages to enter the secret room, from the bathroom, from asami's room an from his bureau! asami will leave this house for a while wonder where they will spent their nights :) a remote house surrounded by his armed men (=・ω・=)
i just don't understand, i rerereviewed this chapter and compared those panels with this schema http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/you_re_my_loveprize_in_viewfinder/mh/v07/c046.5/27/ it's ok all seems ok, they came from the terrace, asami was in his room rush to the door overlooking the living room and began the shooting, aki was in a kitchen Lucky coz one of the assassins took another way to get around asami but aki was behind him to save his lover, "the swat team" came from the front door too, then i don't know where asami & aki are, definitely they are not in the secret room coz it's soundproof they was able to hear assassins speaking.... （￣へ￣）
Tomorrow i explain you where are they asami and takaba and yes their are in the panic room.
the panel where the masked men are is Asami's bedroom. you could see the fur blanket tjere clearly. so that is why they are inthe secret room.
so sensei forget that she mentioned that the panic room is soundproof it's the unique explanation! if not how they can hear : where are they? find them, and asami say to aki be quie! she forget this detail !?

(๑•ㅂ•)و✧
You guys are reading way too much in this. It's obvious they are in the panic room. It is sound proof but not completely. So cclinking sound they hear is muffled from their side probably loud from the other side as those guys are really tearing up the place. They are scrunched together because they are huddled against the wall on the other side because what if the room is found? you don't want to be standing in the middle of the room if they break in
Really already explained the soundproof thing. They could hear a crash and clinks can get loud (could also be an odd translation). Honestly the room itself might not even be soundproof. That could have just been something Asami said to intimidate Akihito. Ever thought of that?
If the room were soundproof, Asami wouldn't be telling Akihito to stay quiet.
