In the light novel - yeah, they end up staying married with 2 kids. arnald is still in the military and leaves for long stretches of time, byletta still does her business.
If you want extra spoilers - the whole big conflict in the light novel is that she gets kidnapped by the guy that she went to school with, guy forges divorce papers and fakes her marriage to his friend (he's a noble so he can't marry her, he wants to keep her as a concubine), and there's this convoluted set up where he set arnald up so if he comes to the place where byletta is kept it incriminates him as the leader of this coup that's happening - it gets resolved by arnald coming to save her anyway, the divorce papers not going through, a bunch of sulking and just happily ever after i guess. the light novel is actually so bad I can't even begin to describe it.

Nahh man the prince thinks of their friendship as give and take, and that is what ruined their friendship. He didnt think that it would hurt the mc and thats what made him curious because he couldnt understand what true friendship is and why she grew to hate him.
