You have to think about how they get arrested in the first place. The parents/guardian would have to be the one reporting it and well.. the older brother....being as psychotic as he is...is prolly gonna lean more into the "murder" side lmao. At least that's what the latest chapter hinted at anyways.

I sincerely doubt he's willing to let police be involved with how controlling he is.

the older brother probably has somewhat guardian rights, since they live alone in the country and he can decide what to do with him, the parents probably gave him minimal rights (also because in most countries you can't even travel with a minor without the parents/guardians presence or approval).

and i don't think you need to be a guardian to report a child got abducted, anyone can report it if they see it. and the guy who is the rumored kidnapper would be arrested (he might not continue in prison if the guardians/parents decided not to press charges)

I think you misunderstood? My argument wasn't so much that "noone but the parents can report a kidnapping" or legalities. My argument was talking about the story specifically. Not a generic irl kidnapping. In this case, literally only the brother had any reason to report them and he won't cuz he's, y'know, murdery. Killing spree yeah, jail time nah.

Yes, people other than the guardian can report seeing a child be kidnapped. But let's be real. Did the scene of him running and jumping to hug the ML look like kidnapping? If you were a bystander, would you be like "omg that poor sweet summer child is GETTING KIDNAPPED". Lmao Id have my ass on the plane and would've just breezed right pass the pair. Bystanders would have zero clue. So that leaves only four parties who could report AND know what's going on so far: minhee, the brother, Yura, and the brothers friend.

Minhee basically helped the ML so that's obvious she's not gonna report. Yura as we know, gave up and also doesn't seem to give a rats ass about the MC. The brother is in psycho mode. The friend is the most likely candidate but that this point, he seems more likely to call the police on the older brother from what we've seen lmao

Pretty much at this point in the story, the intentions of all parties involved who *could* report have shown little to no intention to report. And arguably, the author already has explained why the older brother isn't gonna report it in that chapter where the older bro was being questioned by his friend on why he didn't just stop his little brother from visiting. He never "cared" about his wellbeing, just that he was under his control. Going by the "law" aka taking him back to the US didn't work so now he's back to ...more illegal things lmao

Tl;Dr: Id agree a totally sane person would've reported the ML, however, unfortunately the brother is not the sane person. And everyone else is either busy not caring or busy trying to stop his murderous ass lmao

i really don't know why are you so hyped up? while your comment wasabout this story in specific, mine was not, even when I was explaining about child abduction, it was a general comment. like in general, even in this situation, is a stranger taking away a kid from his only family. children can be bewitched, children can be easily manipulated, even if he called in the police, no one else could say "oh but it was not a kidnapping, they look happy" since he is a adult stranger with no relation to the kid. so yeah, >>I wouldn't be surprise if he was arrested for kidnapping (and honestly? it would be a even better way of dealing, since the guy would be locked in in prison for idk how many years and the younger brother would't be able to met him again).

Yeah...you didn't really read my comment. Id encourage you to take a step back and maybe not take it personally when someone disagrees with you or tries to clarify something. In my replies, I am either disagreeing or clarifying something I can see you misunderstood, again. Since you seemed to take it personally, I'll explain.

My first reply was rebutting your original statement that he would be arrested for child abduction. I disagreed because I don't think it's logical to try and apply irl logic to a story based setting, especially this one where the parties involved have...convoluted reasons and motivations. Reporting simply doesn't align with any of them.

My second comment acknowledged we reach a common consensus however I still had issue with how you interpreted it which is why I further clarified my comment. I also still disagreed with the general message.

The whole mantra about "children can be bewitched"? Has little meaning in this story. The MC is an adult mentally and knows the ML. Their interactions will not look the same as "an adult stranger with no relation to the kid". So I don't understand why you brought that point up.

In my opinion, the situation is entirely unique to the story and I think trying to apply a generic logic to it really takes away from the story. In addition, I hope you actually take the time to read my comment because trying to simplify the situation and applying irl logic really isn't logical when you consider all the factors at play. I'm not going to comment further because you seem to have frequent misunderstandings of my tone but take time to think on it and why it's sometimes detrimental to apply real world logic in a literary setting.
