You can rant all you want and what you said is true. The story IS poorly written, borrowing tropes from 2014 cringey Wattpad Harry styles fanfic but the whole thing is like armpit smell. People know it smells bad yet many take a whiff out of curiosity. Readers read out of sheer morbid curiosity even if the plot is lacklaster and offers nothing new. There are also other reasons too
