so dohyun knows who wooyeon actually is! i.e. the kid he tutored! that’s why he’s taking care of him too. and i think he also has a crush on wooyeon. anyway i miss flashback chubby baby wooyeon. what a cutie

…you maybe think wooyeon (ch23+) is being irrational but u have to consider the fact he is being held captive…what else do you think would happen to a person being held captive yet also having an intimate relationship with their captor? of course stockholm syndrome. and it wouldn’t make sense to most people who aren’t in that situation. he is not psychologically well. he has been mentally and physically tortured by jaeha. he realizes that in his situation, the only way to get away from his prison is to grovel and apologize at jaeha’s lap and convince him he loves him. so that jaeha won’t torture him by leaving him locked up in a dark room indefinitely . it’s a common tactic for victims in captivity. and because he mentally unwell, he also manages to convince himself he loves jaeha, as a way to escape the reality of the matter or as a way to create this safe illusion that both him and jaeha are truly in love and happy or he will have to reckon with the fact he’s apologising and pandering to his captor. that’s why u jinwoo’s method of “rescue and therapy” doesn’t work. shouting at wooyeon that he’s a victim and that the man he’s convinced himself he “loves” is bad and will do more bad things to him cannot work. he is not operating on the level of mental stability that jinwoo is.

it may have many negative reviews but i actually enjoyed reading it. i kinda especially enjoyed jaeha’s and jinwoo’s characters. jaeha is blatantly and irredeemably cruel here you can say…however i think that jinwoo and jaeha are two sides of the same coin. jinwoo’s attempt at rescuing wooyeon leaves wooyeon trapped in his house with little agency(more than at jaeha’s ofc). but jinwoo also…in a way wants to keep wooyeon to himself. he’s just a little more covert and nice guy savior in his approach. and i like how the author was initially portraying jinwoo as a savior-type character just to later show that jinwoo’s advice was actually the reason and the catalyst behind jaeha’s brutal actions. he’s not innocent or guilt-free. however i think it’s easier to empathize with him and root for him because despite him kinda ruining wooyeon’s life, he reckons with his previous actions and kinda tortures himself in poignancy.
and quick question but what the fuck does jinwoo do..like for work. he’s never working and is always chasing after wooyeon. and he’s in his 30s so he definitely must have a career. why is it never brought up even in passing? we never get to really know much about him if it’s not in his proximity to jaeha and wooyeon. he just perpetually orbits around them.
i wonder how the author will take the narrative going forward because from the get-go this was giving psychosexual bl drama thriller…like it’s gay as hell but i find it hard seeing romance become a main theme in the narrative for now.

it’s always so disappointing when parents cover up their children’s terrible & harmful behavior but what’s to expect when the child they raised turned out that way.

pee-nut January 16, 2025 11:03 am

gunjoon and his sunbae needs to sit down and talk and address the sunbae’s notorious fuckboy persona that’s going around and get clarification from his sunbae about what they both want from each other or gunjoon is going to worry himself to death.

pee-nut January 16, 2025 4:16 am

“i know. that doesn’t really matter to me. i like you gunjoon” lmao.

dr kim kinda sucks as a scientist and or researcher because how do you inject the vaccine and the make an immediate conjunction. ill think he is being influenced by anti-rebel sentiments that are so deep ingrained that he doesn’t attempt to view the testing from a pragmatic perspective and he’s quick to dismiss the rebel’s vaccine as a failure. if dr.seok didn’t tell him to wait, he would have make a quick and inaccurate inference. it’s like he doesn’t know how vaccines work lol. he’s also very sus and giving rainbow city elitist it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

    ali January 16, 2025 5:17 am

thats a really good observation, i didnt catch that he immediately made an assumption about the vaccine just based off the first immediate response… he definitely should have waited and it could hint @ him not being a scientist woaaa!!

you’re last statement…wow..now that i’m thinking about it you have something goingthere! he might not even be a scientist! and maybe he has a different role to play in the institution…i can’t wait to see what happens to him.
