Maybe this is a flashback because in the rooftop rant Baekhee mentions asking Kim Jongil for permission since Ilwoo is a (North Korean) spy…but Kim Jongil died in 2011 (previous leader of DPRK) so technically if he’s using present tense while talking about someone them Kim Jongil is probably still alive and this is before 2011 and if I’m assuming late 2010s- early 2020s is the current present time… then the narration and current story is set as a flashback or maybe I’m reading too much into it.
