Me too I'm also wish for Yuri to at least change for the better, but for me it's suits his character n kinda realistic in a way where we can see sometimes people don't change much after all. I mean looking back at both of their consequences n how they came to be till now, I don't think them changing to be better like what people call 'normal' would be hard for them at this point. But that's what makes the story amazing for me, I really relate to them in some way or another about their struggles n it's true, it's hard to suddenly change for the better if you have already been in a spiral all your life for decades
