Uhh sorry but I can't see any logic in your comment. Did you forget that the Aunt was the one that cut her hair off? The Aunt was the one that told her to wear pants and not skirts or dresses? She is just as gross and guilty as her husband since she knows about the abuse and is encouraging his pedo behavior by trying to turn her into a little boy, since that seems to be his preference. How could you think she should be held less accountable? I'm sure that hag knows that he has molested other kids and has done nothing to stop him or to get him help.

I get where you're coming from, everyone has their reasons. However, would you also excuse the pedophile if he claimed, with tears in his eyes, that "the voices told him to do it" or "he just can't help himself"? Somehow, I doubt you would allow your understanding to stretch that far, right? The aunt is no different though. The reasons that someone commits or aids in a crime do not make the crime go away. The reasons can help the person to not commit that crime in the future, but they do not make the crime "less" of a crime, nor do they make the criminal "less" of a criminal. The aunt knows that there is criminal activity going on and she allows it to continue without intervention by police or professionals. That, in and of itself, is a crime. Aiding and abetting in a criminal act makes the person aiding and abetting as responsible for the crime as the original perpetrator.

The other reasons for her doing what she does are equally varied, but not so innocent. She may have only intervened this time with the "sleepwalking" excuse because she saw the older, wiser sibling catch her husband in the act. She may have hoped that the older brother would be an idiot and accept her "sleepwalking" story so that they would avoid prosecution. It is a rare circumstance where a pedophile is unaware that what they are doing is both morally wrong and a criminal act. They may not agree that it is a crime, but they do know that the law sees it as one. The circumstances of a person being unaware that pedophilia and rape are wrong would preclude that person from being acceptable as a foster parent. In other words, the state would not hand over the responsibility of raising children to a person who was intellectually or emotionally incapable of knowing right from wrong. Foster children are not handed out like candy at Halloween. There is a long and involved interview and background check. You actually have to work at deceiving the state if you are a criminal who is trying to get your paws on a child to exploit. That is not to say that it is "hard" to do, but this uncle would have certainly not admitted his "sleepwalking" adventures and his proclivities for sexually assaulting children to his foster care case worker. I doubt auntie has admitted knowing about those things as well. Which means, they both worked at deceiving the case worker. They both know that the uncle "sleepwalks" and when he does this, young girls are not safe in their home. Yet, they choose to continue to be foster parents. Why? There can be two reasons. One, easy access to victims and two, money. They are certainly not doing it for the children's benefit.

@INES18 @FaithWell @misaki-kun @mameiha @Deathperation-13 nowhere in my comment did i justify what she did as "correct" and i agree with what you all are saying. as for me, i like to think the reason behind a character's actions instead of seeing a person do something and immediately antagonize that character. again, yes she is wrong. my comment was to make insight on why she is doing something wrong instead of what she's doing which may be considered wrong

restating my comment above: i think she might be doing it (being an accomplice to a crime) because she loves her husband despite his pedo tendencies or because she does not want to provide for her nephews alone. again i havent stated that what she was doing is right. im thinking of the possible reasons why she might be doing what she's doing
