That's how the father was portrayed in the novel and in the original owner's memories. You can't blame her for that when HE never communicated with his child.
I mean, can you blame her after what he did with the original MC? After how much he neglected her and literally made her kill herself in the end, I would totally doubt that any of his actions would be out of affection if I weren't the reader
