As someone who lived through a war that lasted more than a decade, I understand all the negative feelings that have grown towards the velvet class.
A normal person cannot program his mind to remain normal. Humans are emotional beings and weak towards suffering. You will not be able to resist hatred while your life is full of poverty, hunger and pain.
I know that people see a story about an oppressor man and an oppressed woman, but unfortunately the examples of what happens in real life are much much deeper than that.
I m shock how people overlooked the fact what in real history people has to suffer lot during war how many people lost limbs and family over aristocracy selfishness, fl is suffering mentally within walls and given food ml thought what's making her suffer she hasn't seen war , killings and people dying outside man cannot be blame alone he gone through what many countries in historical time has to gone through during war cuz of aristocracy good things fl decide to use her life dedicated to those her bloodline oppressed in past years every human as equal this story is not bad ml not fl is to blame it's just touching those war time era which are actually very painful
Absolutely. I think the writing itself is just a bit over the top and false when it showed how the male MC abused her. Like it is very unrealistic. I'm not saying someone who suffered from PTSD won't be capable of such behavior but what we see from Heiner is just totally nonsense and over the top irrational and on the flipside we are supposed to think that he is a very calculating and calm commander. It just doesn't make a lot of sense. It makes no sense how he abused her. He cannot continue to love her but also abuse her as he was shown to be doing at the start. Imho the author did a poor job there in establishing a justification for his abuse towards her. He could lose his mind and go completely insane like Casca and Guts in Berserk and then slowly recover that would've been more realistic.
While i do agree with your general explanation (and certainly real life examples are a much complex subject), he's written as an oppressor by the author purposely.
He was unfair to mc for the sake of the plot.
Trauma may explain the inner workings of a person's mind but it isn't a justification over turbulent behavior and abuse towards others. While he IS a traumatized soldier that has witnessed death and endless suffering, he's also an ' oppressor ' and he has, in result, hurt someone over the fact that his subjective, idealized version he had of them was shuttered. Anette hasn't ONCE downplayed his suffering, so i really doubt the 'light and easy' part meant that she considers all of his choices and life as such. I believe it was said with much less meaning than that, over justified anger that someone is taking control of her life once again. So yes, there is an oppressor and an oppressed woman in this story, and while the backstory of each character is complex in its own way, this fact doesn't change.
But what did the Fl ever do to him. Does it then mean that she should answer for the sins of her father.
