I don't think it was a joke, tbh. I think he's vaguely aware that he has some feelings for her, but I think he also thinks she's nothing more than a beloved toy, as she originally was to him.

I’m glad this story doesn’t focus on romance medea doing her own thing and psyche doing hers but their lives intertwine it’s such a wonderfully thought out story im sad it took me a while to attempt to read cause I thought the characters were going to be average and I would hate psyche but I love both the girls and their friendship so much
Through the comments I’ve seen I’m glad prople are gradually realizing that post partum is nothing to laugh at. There were many who were cursing her and maybe still are but I hope they can learn the reason why she was acting like that and how a lot of it connects together. Now many say he should ignore her but would it be better that she keeps on neglecting her son or would it be better that she tries and makes up for it and be a good parent that’s there for their child with the remaining time left? There is no one person you can blame everyone has there share of blame in this story but hating the mc does not make sense, with logic like that you should also hate the husband for the things he did as well at least.
