just finished up to ch64, the more i read the more it seems to me that maomao was born for jinshi, like not only romantically, but in every way possible, only the two of them that doesnt realize their red strings is all over each other, gaoshun refers maomao as someone who has shown that theyre valuable, and everyone around maomao-except her family and jinshi-approached her purely for using her.
i know this isnt labelled as romance or josei or anything, but god even merely seeing them side by side tugged on every each of my heartstrings. jinshi is a really important person and the fact that he get along with maomao so fast is almost unnatural, as if he was letting his guard down, despite having a secret to protect, the more he knows her, the more he felt heavy of keeping his real identity from her, if jinshi saw maomao as a mere apothecary, that guilt shouldn't be there in the first place. while gaoshun keeps maomao around as an ace card knowing how many people targeting the real jinshi a.k.a ka zuigetsu, i genuinely believe jinshi genuinely wants to keep her around just bc he wants to. and its driving me even more insane that maomao doesnt understand the feeling of loss she had when the first time she got fired from the rear palace like- oh my god someone help this little numb and dense to ppl's feeling girl ㅠㅠ
what they have isnt simply an "its meant to be" kinda attachment, its just the piling things from how many times their paths crossed. but thats just my two cents tho.
