guys what is the difference of Wang fei and consort? I search it but still confusing

Wangfei is the male equivalent of the lawful wife. A person can marry a someone as the lawful wife but then take concubines. Concubines are like sister wives that are basically servants that can have sex with the husband, consorts are basically the equivalent of a girlfriend/fiancé that’s recognized legally. Although some forced arrangements usually lead to lawful wife having no power and only holding a symbolic title, that can lead to them being bullied by consorts and concubines.

“ servants that can have sex with the husband” that’s the most straightforward way to put it but yeah it’s true and it kind of feels weird that this existed. Lol imagine being back in the day and you’re the main wife and it is within your consent that he can sleep with others idk how i can live with that.

Sorry to interrupt, but this is misleading. 'Wangfei' isn't a title for male wife. Wangfei literally means the 'wife of the Wangye' and it is a title traditionally (obviously) reserved for women who lawfully married into the prince's household. Male wife was actually non-existence since two men cannot legally married back then, tho it is found frequently in many BL novel. Even tho males in the past can be taken as concubines, 'concubine' title for men were also debatable.
Consort ranks below Wangfei but they're also considered wife, cuz the bonding also takes ceremony, conferring title, and and such. Just not the same scale as marrying the Wangfei
Concubines are mostly like properties of the wangye, that can be gifted to anyone according to Wangye's wishes, and obviously also bed warmers. They didn't go thru the same sacrilegious ceremony like with the Wangfei. They rank under consort and above maidservants. They don't need to be of noble births. Even maidservants who win the favor can be bestowed as concubines.
Wangye can also sleep with their maidservants if they wish too.
Wow that's how omega couple works sooo hooot
