I don't think, it was ever properly explained in the novel why Kay has this visions/illusions, maybe foreshadowing, maybe he is just particularly sensitive to supernatural stuff.
The village was doomed since shortly before Senna took his own life, so that might be why Kay had those visions.

Volume 2 (Book 2), Act 4. The Witch's cabin (which is the beginning of the second volume). Halfway through that 4th act would be were the manhwa is currently at. So just start with the second volume and you are good to go.
