She didn’t ask how long the trip would be because she’s only been in that world for a few days and had no reason to think that going into town would take more than a few hours (as she said). If anything the ML is the one who should have said something earlier.
She can’t go back to the temple because the ML was literally holding her captive. And she can’t run away back to the temple because without the ML the weather is too dangerous for her to handle. Her planning to go back is LITERALLY why she’s trying to find him another guide and she’s the only one with the knowledge and tech to find them. He won’t let her leave unless he has a guide permanently by his side. So no. She’s not purposefully prolonging her stay for no reason nor is doing a mission for no reason.
Also just because he’s the duke doesn’t mean he knows everything. And in this world most people don’t even know what a guide is so someone could be a guide but have no idea. Guides have no features that set them apart from humans unless they are tested or touch an esper. And since espers are rare on this world the chances of them running into each other is basically zero.
Now we get to the part that really tells me that you were reading everything while having blindness glasses on. There is literally a scene that shows you that the SAME watch she used at the start can ALSO detect guides.
This chapter really drived home for me just how stupid the Mc is because what in the hell would possess u, despite already being to a gym and expressing that you've worked out here and there before and what not ,to immediately go to weights with no warm up?
