To be fair, he is obsessed. Considering his colour, it was meant to be (if I remember, it's dark red). Which is why in normal mode, he was the best towards Penelope. Because then, he wasn't obsessed, he didn't care. But he is a character with an obsession tendency, which means that trying to go on his path means making him obsessed I guess.
And our girl Penelope didn't know that ,either ways I just hope she feels ok later with Callisto
