Your theory is actually true, Jinwoo was supposedly the Shadow king's vessel, and that part where he woke up from the dream it should've been the Shadow Kings consciousness that's inside Jinwoo's body, that's why the architect was shocked of how things turned out. But to give you assurance that Jinwoo will be alright, the moment he woke up as Jinwoo and not the Shadow King, was a choice the Shadow King chose, so instead of being reborn he chose to give everything to Jinwoo and that is the black heart. The black heart signifies the Shadow King and it's power, in other words Jinwoo is now the real Shadow king (although he is yet to obtain the full power for now)
