I never usually find obsessive male leads scary but i audibly said the word “creepy” while reading chap 6, but i know im gonna eat this up.

The story has really good concept but I feel like we’ve been left hanging with a lot of plot points and/or the plot points are not fleshed out. I have so many examples of this, like Lottie’s whole position as a character, Peony/ Gabby’s relationship with the guards, her past life and her experience as a fake saint. I saw someone say that it feel like we are reading the second book of like a series and i couldn’t agree more.
Honestly my list can go on and on but i feel like i would just be talking about every plot point. When a plot is very extravagant one would want characters to be more fleshed out in order to enjoy the twists and struggles of the story but instead everything just feels super shallow. It sucks cuz the concept and idea of the story is so so so good.
I have so many thoughts on this story but a big one is that i wish the characters emotions were explored more. Too many characters with really heavy emotional situations and it feels really empty. When they were finding out she was gabby it honestly felt a little anti climatic.
Also what is her identity, Does she resonate with Gabby? Peony? or does she feel like a person in a novel? Is she strong and reserved like Gabby? Or is she sweet and bubbly like peony. Or is that the whole point? that’s she’s a blend of all her lives? And why doesn’t Ernst feel a change in her character? That should be explored more as a whole, her internal process and she juggles these identities and how it affects her relationships. Instead we got a bunch of tropes and new characters.

The story was okay or whatever like it wasn’t anything to write home about but i didn’t absolutely hate it. THE FUCKING DUMMY CHAPTERS THOUGH THOSE FILLED ME WITH SO MUCH HATE like those were dumb asf, the story was already mid and then ur gonna put some corny ass chapters that added nothing to the experience so lame
This dialogue and plot is so painfully corny, like it’s netflix movie coded. But the art is nice so i can’t say ill drop it
