What does that matter? The scarf is special to Mikasa bc of its connection to Eren. Why would she pass that onto her child(ren) with Jean? Being laid to rest with the scarf and having children with Jean are not mutually exclusive things...why are ppl so dichotomous on their thinking??? If there is anything to take away from AOT, it’s that human nature is complex. Ever hear of a dialectic (two or more opposing things can be true at once). Mikasa can have lingering feelings for Eren for the rest of her life (keep and be buried with the symbol of that love and only remaining connection) AND live her life in a way that she makes room in her heart for new love, different love...joy...a sense of purpose...even a semblance of peace (which manifested as her creating a family with Jean). Jean always held immense respect and consideration for her. I don’t doubt he would love her (just like in his dream) and be understanding of how important Eren was to her (thus burying her with the scarf). She doesn’t have to pass that on to be a Mom...it wouldn’t even make sense for her to pass it on to her kids especially seeing as they’re not Eren’s kids.

When I first saw that I just assume that image was from the future after she had lived her life with whomever or alone and passed away but that’s just what it look like to me
