Like...offensive?? As expected of Japan, sexualizing monks too. Migoto

Actually, no. Japanese Buddhism is surprisingly open to partaking in sexual pleasures. Monks were known to have relationships with geishas and prostitutes back in the day. Also (and don't quote me on this, it's been a while lmao) Japanese Buddhism is what ushered in the 'culture of homo and bisexuality' as they were quite open to it during the Meiji era. Although, iirc, the relationships were almost always pederastic in nature (adult man/monk & adolescent boy).
Again, it's been years since I studied this so better to look it up if you're really interested.

Right, so whilst the major religions in Japan are Buddhism and Shinto, a lot of people aren't actually devout and practice it in their day to day life (at least from my experience and what I've seen). Most do follow certain rituals which are based off religion such as shrine visits, ceremonies for birth, funeral, weddings, etc. But it's more of something that's tradition and less about the religion itself (am I making sense? Lmao)
With regards to the MC or general population, not knowing about these monks who can marry/drink alcohol/eat meat, it's honestly not surprising. I think generally, most people when they hear Buddhism/monks think of ascetic Buddhists-- those who practice self-discipline/abstaining from pleasure to achieve enlightenment.
There are also lots of Buddhist schools being practiced in Japan (Zen, Shingo, Nichiren to name a few); as such, different schools have different allowances in their practices. Not sure if the manga's mentioned which it's portraying, but it's definitely one that allows marriage (example of one is Pure Land Buddhism) Honestly, it's a quite normal life apart from the robes and prayers, etc from what I recall. Some schools even allow marriage to foreigners (times truly are changing haha)!
I will say though, being a smut manga and all, it does exaggerate the whole sex thing imo... monks would still practice self control and not have sex every chapter smh #-.-)
Also again, disclaimer since this is just all from the top of my head. I'm not a Buddhist or some scholar, so some info may be a bit too generalist. It was something I had to study a few years back oTL

Seriously guys y’all are making him seem like the worst character?!!! Like wdym he’s overly dramatic - bro he’s suicidal(/TДT)/ Clearly he’s not in a good mental state but some of you guys are trying to phrase it like “this isn’t good character development” or “this is too much self pity” ;-;-;-;-; some of y’all are tone deaf as fuck

I never said that he is the worst character, I said that I didn’t like it from the beginning. Like u said, he is suicidal, clearly traumatized and corner. What I’m tired about it, is that (more frustrated than anything) he cannot trust Rin on anything, or anyone at least. He is clearly a very complicated character with all his problems, his inferior complex but at the same time he cannot see Rin above him in other standards. He puts a lot of pressure on his shoulders, and don’t want to see around him. So it’s frustrating that he at this point can’t even listen the people around him, and want to ends all by his hand because he believes nobody can help or will understand him and the pains he goes through. It’s clearly sad see the point when he so corner that the attempt to suicide multiple times. It’s hard pill to swallow. I only wish he gets the help he really needs, and for once see his older brother (who also have his own problems, and clearly not on the best mental health either...nobody in this manga had a mental health, they all children with a lot of pressure and trauma), friends that wants to help. And I really wish that he could at least vent on someone, yeah maybe the person will not able to help u but talking about your problems helps a lot#-.-)

FOR SURE I feel like since he’s a character in a shounen manga and since he’s always compared to Rin, people are expecting so much from him. Like “he doesn’t trust Rin” or “his character is so frustrating” like bro he’s only “annoying” because he’s not acting like the typical shounen manga characters who just power thru shit. Y’all see vulnerability and weakness in shounen characters and think it’s the worst fucking thing

Can someone explain that sex toy because he said there’s a part of the toy that‘s supposed reach up to touch the clit but how does that work? Like unless the partner has a rlly short vulva/ the distance between the clit and the vagina is rlly close would it even touch it??? Cause clearly the guy can’t have a clit but like how would it touch the partner’s clit? Maybe the dimensions are off in the manhwa?
She shouldn’t end up with Daniel. She should end up with all of them. Case dismissed.
YES! But we all know who she's most likely to end up with. I love all of them except the useless "heroine" and *cough piece of shit cough* "hero". Team villainous all the way.
