I'm actually pleasantly surprised that no sexual assault was involved in the girl's punishment. Genres like this tend to treat women as sexual objects but it actually did not go that route.

Genre like this tend to use everyone as sexual object if their sins is about sexual stuff tbh. Like for example (tw : gore) theres another revenge story where the target is a dude who sexually harrased their coworker i think? And his punishment is getting a big stick with many thorns forcefully shoves into his ass

What I'm pertaining to is mainly about how many manga like this only have women for fan service. I can't remember the title but a manga that I've read explicitly depicted a woman getting r*ped (she's a victim in this case) and another character (a male antagonist) also gets r*ped as a form of punishment but for his scene, iirc, the r*pe was not shown explicitly. Another manga is the one where he reincarnated and he basically turned the one he's getting revenge on as his sex slave. It's rare for revenge manga to treat women as actual characters tbh. For this manga, I was a bit nervous because even though the MC is a woman, some earlier scenes were raising some red flags (the scene where she gave the principal a BJ).

I don't know how to feel. It's obvious that he's regretting what he did but with how things are being shown, it feels like the rape is just going to be portrayed as him "being insensitive and rough and forceful" instead of what it actually was: rape. Even on the side of the MC, I don't think he's ever going to acknowledge what was actually done to him. If I recall it properly, he even apologized to the rich guy during the end of s1. I guess that's just the problem with the BL genre. Rape is never called what it is unless the person doing the rape is not the ML. If it's the ML doing it, he's just "treating him roughly and terribly".

So they totally glossed over the rape??? Wasn't even addressed??? The guy didn't even express any regrets about raping the other guy??? If the point was to show him trying to push the guy away by being rude and cold, they could've done that without the rape. It just felt off after that chapter honestly I just kept reading to see what happens with the friend (spoiler: the thing with him was not really resolved)

Why are the good ones always rarely updating I read this all in one go and I saw the upload dates... It's been 8 years apparently and one of the main characters only just recently realized his feelings. Here is to another 8 years for the other guy to fall in love and another 8 years for them to get together ig
Does this still count as BL? Definitely homoerotic but do we really call this BL? Regardless, I honestly really still like this manhwa. I hate stories with toxic couples and r*pe but this is just different. Maybe it's the fact that the toxicity and the SA isn't really portrayed romantically. Do we even consider this as toxic? It's crime scene after crime scene with loads of mental illness. Whenever bum gets hopeful, we immediately know it's because he has his traumas and he is mentally ill. It's not because he's genuinely in love with Sangwoo. And for Sangwoo, he only became ""romantic"" near the end and whenever he does something ""nice"" for bum, there's this looming certainty that something terrible will be done after. The atmosphere of the scenes are definitely set up as some sort of dark psychological thing, unlike most toxic BL where the color palette is very light and basic. There's not a single panel in this manhwa that gives the slightest air of romance and for me, it makes it so great. The ending for Sangwoo is so hilariously poetic too. The guy who is so mentally messed up that he became a serial killer ended up dying because of a hospitalized old lady that got annoyed with him?? Top notch comedy, I tell you. For bum, on the other hand, although I hoped back then that he ended up recovering and living a good life, I think dying is the best option for him. I truly believe that no amount of therapy could ever make him recover, especially since he would've had to pretend that he wasn't an accomplice for some of the killings and that he did not have any feelings, albeit messed up one's, towards Sangwoo.
Despite any opinions that you may have on the nature of Sangwoo and bum's relationship, one thing we can all agree on is that this is a psychological thriller first before it is a "BL". And regardless of how controversial the themes of this story is, it had already made its mark as one of the best manhwas in the genre. Koogi comeback when
Let me just add: the scene where Sangwoo calls out his mom while he was having sex with Yoonbum? That will forever be etched on my mind. The gasp (and the laugh that followed) I let out was undeniably e loud. Sangwoo is such a well-written villain. His mom(!) is even a bigger villain, making multiple men suffer and multiple women die because of her messed up brain. If she got therapy (or got admitted to a psych ward) early on, many victims would not have been victims. Unfortunately for Yoonbum, his problems don't start with Sangwoo (or his mom), so he'd still have a tragic story.
I don't think it counts as bl, the writer planned it to be a psychological horror and also said that Sang Woo is straight.
