I think the plot point of Vera having to put up a sweet and innocent facade in front of Van is the whole reason he would NOT have worked as the ML cause if she choose him she’d have to hide who she was
Yeah but he loves her so much that he is able to accept her for who she is by the end. I think it’s more meaningful than her ending up with a male version of herself.

I think author is amazing tbh, I am extremely petty and if I hate a character early on, usually I never change my mind. However, I changed my mind about the ML. He is just a veer well written character. It’s also really cool how he’s not like literally all other cold MLs.
