The reason everyone is excited for the beach scene is because of the anticipation and the tension between these two characters that’s been building up finally happened and it was written so well like you feel chase’s desperation for josh and vice versa… so to just rush it feels like the artist just want to cut corner and finish this as fast as possible :(
Yeah, in the novel they took their time to do a first round outside then they moved to Chase's bedroom for the more rounds and many small things happened in between.
They even also skipped a lot of conversation between them and even how Josh was looking at Chase for a few minutes when he was swimming, idk this scene feels artificial like only pheromone induced, and it's not like that at all.
I never thought I would find a perspective on love that I would never understand. I guess it goes to show that love can take many shapes and forms. I get sad seeing Gene go in and out of Trevor’s life just like that but also confused as to why he came back. I understand ending a love for personal growth but if it doesn’t come back doesn’t it mean he doesn’t want it to continue? he said he had already planned to leave the relationship behind and he had no plans to come back to that love… That all this reunion is just because of the niece and not because he wants to. I think if he went back on his own accord, didn’t walk away after meeting Trevor maybe i’d believe it was love after all but after reading all I can think about is this is probably just another chapter for Gene while for Trevor he is his entire story or maybe I just don’t get love that you can leave behind and pick up whenever your other adventures are done.
I think it's because his goals and passion outweighs his love. Sometimes u can't do two things at the same time and u gotta make a choice and he did. Seeing that Trevor also supported him knowing that if he didn't let go Gene will always be missing something actually tells me that their love is truly genuine.
Of course that's just my thoughts and interpretations!!
