Yup it’s the same with the seme in painter of the night. They both have extreme trauma from parents beating them and are affected by that mentally. He was physically beat and his father then multiple men forcibly rape him causing extreme PTSD/panic attacks/and insomnia as we have seen. ADDING TO THAT FACT this time period is HUNDREDS of years ago if not further so Mental health and its effects on your literal PERSONALITY AND MIND were not none and didn’t even know this was a bad thing to “correct” this man for being gay. So because of all this he doesn’t know what he’s doing is wrong since hes been forced to do it to and is doing it unconsciously, he only realizes what’s happening when he finally has feelings for someone which his father taught him was wrong which causes him to, in a way, mentally/emotionally heal for him. Now I’m not saying his should be justified in those actions but you cannot complete blame him because those things in his past severaly fucked him up and he’s trying to get better. It’s better to forgive and not forget then to forget and not forgive.
