idk why but alice reminds me of voldemort (⌒▽⌒)

Voldemort was privileged and spoiled due to wealth and status. Dumbledore has been doing things in the background for a long time. He had been leading plans, putting in safety guards and traps, etc that Harry managed to find and use (some of them) to an extent. I had found Dumbledore somewhat manipulative towards Harry and scheming against the dark side which was led by Voldemort.

Voldemort (Tom Riddle) grew up in London in an orphanage. His latter teen years were spent during WW2. He grew up impoverished and in poverty his whole life. He only gained status later on in Hogwarts but no wealth of his own. His father was raped by his mother and all his relatives were racist bigots and almost insane due to inbreeding- not a whole lot of status there. He became Voldemort to escape from all this and his fear of death. He’s evil undoubtedly but not spoiled or privileged. He worked hard to get as far as he did as a mudblood/halfblood in slytherin, Dumbledore obviously went against Voldemort because he was evil and it was out of necessity. On the other hand, yes Dumbledore is manipulative and he has manipulated Harry to a certain extent. What other traps are you talking about other than the end of 1st year?

Yeah true he kept the prophecy from him and there’s the whole horcrux debacle but then again he couldn’t tell an 11 year old about such a prophecy and he didn’t know where all the horcruxes where either. Although he only knew about Harry being a horcrux in his 5th year and didn’t tell him until the very end was a huge no no because even though he knew Harry would survive, he still should have told him. He’s manipulative but not evil, has the best intentions but is misguided on how to achieve certain goals.
