i fear this isn’t the chasing arc that the audience needed mingwa……… jaekyung still has the upper hand, is not showing any semblance of remorse, still thinks kim dan is an object that he can get by throwing some cash, is INVASIVE as fuck……. just cut it out there’s no fucking hope. kim dan i know things are hard, but don’t give in. he doesn’t deserve you baby :(

ctfu because he’s chasing him to ANNOY him and TANE ADVANTAGE of him again oh my lord i’m really gonna have a hard time accepting this mfka’s supposed character development. he’s an asshole through and through. unless mingwa suddenly ruins his characterization by making him pathetic, i will never be able to stomach this mfka being kim dan’s supposed male lead

ROMANTIC OPENER IS HERE ILY BABY
also @ some novel readers, this is just my opinion but i think the manhwa not including some scenes and moments is fine because that way the storytelling would be seamless. the problem with the novel is that it has too much comedy in scenes where comedy isn’t needed, or prolonged and unnecessary scenes due to CEJ’s stubbornness. the manhwa not including the couple bickering about the door is a good decision (for me, although it removed some character interaction between the main couple) because it prolonged the scene so much that goyo was literally almost half dead the moment CEJ stopped being stubborn. the novel literally has zero urgency when it comes to situations like this, so deleting prolonged scenes may just remedy that flaw.
the only downside is that it also removes the slow build up between the couple’s relationship but i guess it will be fine given how the couple is still teetering and navigating their unlabelled relationship up until now in the novel. like the manhwa still has a hundred chapters to build their relationship so don’t sweat it this stubbornness isn’t the first and is definitely not the last from CEJ’s end so no one is missing out really

also another reason i could think of why they removed the scene is because LSY said that you can only use the door one way and that was a LIE. LSY could be lying about that or the author just forgot about that because goyo’s door was continuously used as a two-way door in the novel and the author didn’t clarify whether was LSY was lying or not. so i guess for the sake of keeping goyo’s ability consistent, they removed that part which is honestly such a good move

second, CEJ’s character remains stagnant. at first, i loved that he’s a hero who’s only known to shoulder burdens alone. but at this point, it’s just too much. almost 300 chapters in and he still hasn’t improved from his hero complex. it’s POINTLESS at this point, because it just hinders the protocol and teamwork and it just puts an emotional strain on LSY who worries tireless over CEJ. he won’t communicate with LSY, he’s not upfront with his feelings, his choices are done with the most bullshit justification, and there’s still no sign of him snapping out of it!!! as a novel reader, it’s so painful because hundreds of chapters were wasted for the sake of prolonging the sub-arcs. the pacing could have been impeccable but no! the disjointed communication between characters and their selfishness just ends up prolonging the scenes, which doesn’t give the story the sense of urgency that you see in stories responding to the apocalypse. am i the only one who feels like this?
so TLDR: am i crazy or did the story fall off at the last arc because the characters are SHIT at communicating, their response is passive, LSY’s character downgraded as a walmart version of hua cheng who couldn’t even do what hua cheng does best, and CEJ still hasn’t improved!
i know i’m gonna get hate for this. because it’s an amazing story, but it’s kind of getting painful to read. and i’m afraid that when the manhwa ends in 2-3 yrs, some readers are also gonna find the flaws i’ve pointed out. hopefully not, but readers who could read would. i just hope that the manhwa adapts the story well enough for it to be tolerable, or enough to make the readers ignore its flaws. it’s doing a good job so far, so i’m hopeful.

oh my god thank god i wasn’t crazy!! i was also getting to disoriented because of the comments who keep 1) pitting all the blame to the villains as if the characters themselvea aren’t contributing to their fuckery 2) keep misunderstanding LSY’s character yet praising and excusing CEJ 3) not understanding the WHOLE point of the plot.
i swear some of em read with their eyes closed.

okay so don’t get me wrong. i loved this story to the point of reading the novel. i love the concept and the fact that it’s BL, and that’s why i’m saying this as someone who cares about this story.
but am i the only one who feels like the story fell off ever since the apocalypse arc started? it feels like it’s just pointless choices after pointless choices all over again.
first, the characters are incredibly passive at responding to the apocalypse. they won’t COMMUNICATE SHIT! you’re telling me yall have built-in disc0rd servers at your disposal but yall won’t even use it to relay information about the apocalypse? CEJ and Ga-eul have the ability to access the memories from former timelines and that could have helped a lot in responding to the end. but the problem lies with the fact that the characters kept withholding information to themselves! it’s so infuriating to witness. because of that, they always almost end up getting extinct! (the only reason they didn’t is because of prometheus which is an outlier in the system which changes the course of things a little). this also includes not being transparent to the public about the plague! it’s literally so AGGRAVATING. the justification of the media black out is even more ridiculous, completely disregarding that government transparency could have saved lives (which the novel is NOW showing).

when i first spoiled myself on how the ending was gonna go and how people said it was bad, that discouraged me from picking this back up but im glad i finally finished reading this. +
after continuously reading from start to finish, i realized that that ending was perfect for jinwoo who has always wanted to raid dungeons and slay dungeon bosses on his own while using his own abilities and powers. he was the type to shoulder the burden alone, and the ending reflected that same sentiment. i thought i was gonna be disappointed with the ending, given how many characters were deprived of what they could have been, but i just feel like that was the author’s intention. memory loss is a gift from god. it was a small price to pay for a sense of normalcy. and only sung jinwoo, and now sooho, carry the burden of protecting the peace from monsters that should have never existed in the first place.
i know some may be disappointed with the ending, given how endings that reverted something are usually looked down upon, but to me, this ending was a rare case where a reversion is most warranted. it was the only way for jinwoo to continue living a quiet life while he continues to grow strong alone, a life he always wanted. not to mention there are just too many casualties from dungeon breaks for jinwoo to attempt a life of normalcy. he couldn’t ever achieve a life like that even after besting the monarchs. this was an attempt for a poetic justice ending for a solo player like jinwoo, a hunter that bears the burden alone. an attempt that is greatly appreciated by me, at least.

i don’t like this ship at all i know there’s a gradual build up for them and them as end game would also make a lot of sense but personally i like their sibling relationship better. their relationship started with jiyoung looking after jiwoo because he’s a young awakener and it took a weird turn bc now they’re interested in each other, esp joyoung?!!!. there’s build up, but i don’t think i can enjoy the trajectory of their relationship. it took such a weird turn from looking after someone to being interested with them.
i even ship jurion with juyoung because of how jurion looks at her with affection. LIKEEEEE im so sick.
they ruin shounen with half ass attempts to insert romance. i fear shonen writers should leave romance writing to bl authors bc they keep ruining shit. like I LOVEEE ELECEED but this forced romance is my only problem with it. like there are so many things to focus on, so many plot devices to take notice of, we rlly don’t need a romance plot now. jiwoo is literally a highschool kid yall im not tryna read about how he got with a chairwoman a few yrs older than her UGH
I think the only way for me to accept this ship is for a godlike character arc for jiwoo and juyoung but just thinking of reading anything related to romance pisses me awff i just wanna see op characters man

Me too!!! I agree with this on so many levels omg!! I Also like ji young and jiwoo’s sibling relationship better and I really liked jurion with ji young And romance with action is the worse mix I sweaarrrr like pls don’t add any lovey dovey their friendship was doing just fine, but I get that two badass characters are good and not the usual op ml and cutesy tsundere fl who pouts nonstop but the still romance?? Whyyyy honestly they just gave them talking scenes with each other and made them blush subtly making it the stepping stone for the upcoming relationship but it just doesn’t make sense!! I just don’t like romance in shonen-action

RIGHHHHT even the so called “build up” was lacking bc it wasn’t anything special. the earliest telltale sign of this ship was that juyoung blushes bc of jiwoo but even inhyuk does that. there was an attempt to build this ship from the ground up but i don’t find it good, not to mention it took such a different turn to how i was expecting their relationship to grow. IT DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE bc their interaction w each other never really strayed far from discussing the world of awakeneds at all so it may seem like their relationship is that of sibling type relationship where the older looks after the younger. what a bummer

NO LITERALLY you summed it up perfectly, like idc that their relationship has been gradually built up, i still don’t like it i also like their sibling relationship better, especially since jiwoo is friends/acts like siblings w jisuk !! and HEAVYY on your last statement ! i hate reading romance in a shounen/action story i fear
mingwa please prove us wrong and prove that you are a writer capable of THINKING and creating meaningful art by KILLING KIM DAN AND GRANNY and turning this entire series into a tragedy. because there is no EXCUSE that will ever be acceptable for jaekyung to end up with kim dan in the end. just kill kim dan at this point so he won’t be miserable anymore, his life’s fucking ruined by jaekyung anyway. any attempt at happiness in kim dan’s end would be so ass at this point cause him ending up with jaekyung would only mean that jaekyung’s attempts at making kim dan completely dependent on him is successful and is kim’s dan only shot at happiness.
bro what?
if u rlly think i’m even completely serious about this u need to get ur shit checked i think
okay so like why does Dan have to die though? why can't he just have a pillar be introduced in his life that helps him mourn and healthily move on from his grandma's passing and then get his life together too... why can't jaekyung die lol
dude I prefer this ending more im so irritated with the grandma showing favor to diddy horse and like bro I really wished she knew and give him a slap in the fucking face and kick him to the ground
where did i even say that he cant have that. where did i also say that jaekyung cant die instead.
also in case u didn’t understand the message that i’m trying to say, what i’m saying is if mingwa is so adamant at making kim dan end up with jaekyung in the end despite all this, he might as well end kim dan’s shit.
yeah any semblance of acceptance towards jaekyung in this mfking manhwa pisses me off at this point like i’d rather have these characters die and be freed from jaekyung instead of them giving that big eared mfka a chance
