I’m as confused as you, but I think it goes like this. Mc and Ml died in the book and both of them entered a world created by the mc. It was his dream to live normally and so the world only spins for him. Mc reads the book (which is his real life) and came back there. I dunno how he came back, it was shown as a transmigration for him (since he didn’t know about his real life in the book), but for the ml, it’s like returning to the original world and turning back time. So yes, they are characters from a book, died and both got revived in a world that the mc dreams off. It was created solely for him so yuhh

"Real life" doesn't technically exist because SILENCE is the og universe but what happened in SILENCE is their past life now so think of it as regression

After they both died, they both entered a world created by mc. Mc is well, what himself from SILENCE wanted while ML remained the same, soon realizing the world was made by mc(by finding the book in the school library). Its implied that if all the scenes he drew completed then the world would crumble. We dont know whether theyll go back to the original universe or theres just nothing left for them but the reason why they want back to SILENCE (aka the original universe) was because ML left the book at MCS house while time was stopped. Long story short mc read the book and they both "transmigged" in the book.

for (3) I dont think the book actually exists because it only existed in the world MC created. So unless MC wishes for another alternative universe for himself and ml then both of them dies, I assume the manhwa we have right now is what they'll have in that new universe.

(4) "real life" iheon and huimin are the same as SILENCE iheon and huimin. Like literally.

tldr;
-ml and mc are the same people from the book and "real life" (aka the universe mc created)
-SILENCE is their past life after they died they went to "real life"
-mc from "real life" read the book and they regressed back to the og world.

id like to mention as well theres some plotholes like how did mcs drawings became "reality", or how did the book exist in that said reality.

i forgot to mention, mc didnt have memories from SILENCE because this is a world he made himself from silence. He wanted a life where he and ml were just friends and he didnt have to go through all that trauma he experienced, he just wanted to be happy. Thus, huimin from "real life" is different from huimin from silence even though they are the same person (this is explained by around c60-62)

There’s currently 3 tineline
1st: SILENCE (their OG life) is the tragic one.
2nd: The life Huimin wanted where abo doesnt exist.
3rd: the series we’re reading rn. Iheon remembers all timeline because of the bathtub incident in ch30ish. While Huimin remembers 2nd timeline the most and that’s where most of his memories come from BUT he still knows about the 1st timeline. Huimin of 2nd and 3rd basically merged as one but the dominant persona is still the 2nd tl.
