You are right and reality Jin should not be back with the dude. Apparently we know they will end up together anyway. The mature guy, Alex, is better choice for Jin. Again, it won't happen due to the plot. That Alex guy, saved Jin from the despair when he's in New York, heart broken from the dude who's had a gf. Alex saved Jin both with his study and how to get by abroad. Alex didn't cross the line and not force to have sex with Jin. Another best second guy, good looking but didn't win.
